All things being equal, you are correct but in this situation and frequently all things are not equal or unchanged. There is such as thing as an educated guess which is really his predictions should be made. You consider past stats if applicable but you don't necessarily always base your prediction on them. Houston has new personnel in almost every skill position on offense. When there is that much change, every practice and especially every game brings improvement. The changes were not just minor upgrades but significant upgrades which renders old stats anywhere from unreliable to obsolete so to base predictions on these "outdated stats" is not wise. Secondly, there is a new QB for the Patriots which has an impact on the outcome. Last of all, O'Brien has been improving as an NFL coach as mentioned by several NFL analysts. Combine all these and other more minor factors and I believe it's safe to say that "old stats" are out the window. If the Patriots win, I believe it will be because of turnovers which are always difficult to precisely predict. The Texans have the upper hand all things considered but it's not that large of a gap that things can't swing in the Pats favor. New England with bring it and the crowd will be into it so Houston has its work cut out for sure.
You realize that the only legitimate way to make predictions is using "old stats," right? Anything else is guessing and wishing.
How can you make predictions using old stats? If the Patriots beat the Texans with a third string quarterback against that defense it would be hard to believe,
